Monday, 08/01/11 Green Mountain

Up/down front 4.06 miles/2,300 vert./1:03:53 (38:45 up)/avg. HR 149 Garmin Data

Started a bit after 4pm, went pretty casual on the up, even easier on the down.  It was a quite hot today, but I was not as bothered by it as normal.  Saw a pretty fit/fast looking runner near the top heading down as I was going up.  I did not recognize him, but was quite friendly as he pulled over to the side of the trail and said "looking strong" (which was nice since I was going slow).  On my way down, I passed Johannes R. heading up (of course as I stopped to mess with my MP3 player), not sure he knows who I am though, just waved a quick hi.

Hoping to see Tony out there again soon, even if only hiking at first.

  1. Hi Jeff,

Sorry to bother you. I'm from Ontario Canada and next week I am coming to Boulder for a business trip. I check out your blog and some other blogs of runners from Boulder, it looks like an amazing place to run. I'm bringing my 17 year old daughter who runs track/cross country and we wanted to run up Green Mountain. I saw your run in this blog isn't too far. I was wondering if you could give me some directions and what to follow on the trail? I hope you don't mind, sorry to ask. Gord Kidd, Guelph Ontario

  2. Hey Gord, thanks for reading. From Baseline and Broadway (major intersection in Boulder), follow Baseline West up to Chautauqua Park and park there. If you run West from there (there are several trails, but pick the one that paralells Baseline Road), go ~1/2 mile to the Gregory TH. From the parking lot, you have 2 choices. Either go up Gregory/Ranger route on the West side of the lot (1/2 mile longer, but less steep), or head up Amphitheater/Saddle Rock/Greenman from the South end of the lot (2 miles, but is mostly steep). There are a few variations along the way, but these are the 2 more common routes. Refer to this map here:

    Have fun!
